MacFarland Middle School
Lucas Cooke is the new principal of MacFarland Middle School. Prior to joining MacFarland, he was the Principal at Hardy Middle School for the past five joyous years working with the community as the school has grown in every way and persevered through the pandemic.? Prior to that role he served as an assistant principal at Eastern High School for three years. Before coming to DCPS, Cooke worked as an assistant principal and then principal at the Bushwick School for Social Justice in New York City. Cooke’s approach to the role is one of sincerity. He strives to be direct, caring, supportive, and clear with all members of the school community. He received his bachelor’s degree in English and master’s degree in teaching from the College of New Jersey, as well a master’s degree in educational leadership from Baruch College.
