With the whold child at the center, DCPS recognizes the importance of promoting physical activity throughout the day to support student success. This document conveys DCPS guidance on recess, including its many benefits, planning for successful recess (e.g., structured vs. unstructured, safety and supervision, duration and timing, activities and equipment, indoor recess), and a recess guidelines checklist.
